Here are a few items to ensure you are fully prepared:

2.CURRENCY

Iceland’s official currency is the Icelandic króna (ISK). While you may see prices that look high because of the exchange rate, don’t worry—it will quickly become familiar!

The easiest way to pay in Iceland is by credit or debit card. Cards and contactless payments are widely accepted throughout the country, including at restaurants, shops, cafés, hotels, and many smaller businesses.

Good to know: Bring a card that works internationally and notify your bank of your travel plans if required. U.S. dollars and euros are generally not accepted for everyday purchases, so there is usually no need to bring them for spending. If you would like some cash, you can withdraw Icelandic króna from an ATM after arrival.

For most of the trip, your card will be all you need!

3. WEATHER

‍ In October, Iceland features cool and highly changeable weather transitioning into winter. Average temperatures hover between 36°F and 45°F (2°C to 7°C). Expect frequent rain, strong winds, and shortening daylight—from about 11.5 hours at the start of the month down to 8 hours by the end of the month.

4. PACKING

‍ ‍ Clothing :

• Waterproof & windproof shell jacket and pants

• Warm fleece or wool mid-layers

• Base layers (thermal tops and leggings)

• Hat, gloves, scarf or buff

• Wool or thermal socks

• Comfortable hiking shoes or waterproof boots

• Swimsuit 

• Casual clothes for indoor use
