Printer Support (mac osx 10.12 and beyond)

All the printers in Maison du Lac can be used directly from your personal computer. To network a printer on your Mac, follow the steps below: 

1. Open "System Preferences
2. Select "Printers and Scanners"
3. Click the "+" sign in the lower lefthand corner of the screen. 
4. Select "IP"
5. In the "Address" field, type the 10 digit IP address of the printer you wish to use. (192.168.26.XX), then fill in the "Name" field with the appropriate printer information. (Ex. 2nd Floor Study Room Printer) The first floor printer's IP address is 192.168.26.14, the second floor printer's IP address is 192.168.26.15, the third floor printer's IP address is 192.168.26.16. 
6. Under protocol, select "HP Jetdirect - Socket"
7. In the field entitled "Name", replace the 10 digit IP address with the name of the printer you are attempting to set up. (Ex. "1st floor study room printer")
8. In the field entitled "Use", select Generic PCL Printer. Then select "Add" to complete the process.
9. 14. Congratulations. You should be able to use the printer! If you have issues, contact the student I.T. support coordinator or your Associate Director, Mark Barneche.

 

PRinter support (MAC OSX 10.10 - 10.11)

All the printers in Maison du Lac can be used directly from your personal computer. To network a printer on your Mac, follow the steps below: 

1. Open "System Preferences"
2. Select "Security and Privacy"
3. Click the lock on the lower left hand corner to make changes and, when prompted, input your system password.
4. Under the General tab, find the "Allow apps to be downloaded from:" section and click "Anywhere"
5. When the warning dialog box appears, click "Allow From Anywhere"
6. Click to download the appropriate driver for our printers. (141MB)
7. Open the DMG package and double click "HP LaserJet P2055 v9.5.0"
8. Open "System Preferences"
9. Select "Printers and Scanners"
10. Add a new printer by selecting the "+", then select "Add Printer or Scannner"
11. Select "IP"
12.  In the "Address" field, type the 10 digit IP address of the printer you wish to use. (192.168.26.XX), then fill in the "Name" field with the appropriate printer information. (Ex. 2nd Floor Study Room Printer) The first floor printer's IP address is 192.168.26.14, the second floor printer's IP address is 192.168.26.15, the third floor printer's IP address is 192.168.26.16. 
13. Before you select "Add", select the drop down under "Use" and select the appropriate printer driver for model "HP 2055dn".  (Choose the driver that does not end in "PS") Then select "Add" to complete the process.  In some cases, the appropriate driver will automatically be selected.  
14. Congratulations. You should be able to use the printer! If you have issues, contact the student I.T. support coordinator or your Assistant Director. 

MOBILE APPS

SBB Mobile App: This is an amazing application for train travel. Set up an account to buy tickets directly online to print at home instead of going to the station. Also contains platform information, train traffic, etc. 

FlightView Elite: The ultimate application for flight information. Push notifications will let you know when your flight is delayed, when it’s changed, terminals, etc. 

Google Maps: Now has the ability to save maps offline. If you plan ahead, you can download the entire map for any city you might visit in Switzerland. No need to stream data! 

White Noise: Noisy train or hostel? Just pop in your headphones and drown out distraction with this handy app. 

Airbnb: The go-to app for crowd source lodging around the world.
